Outgoing email settings overview

At certain times MailWasher Server must send emails to users, for example an optional summary of their quarantined messages (see Automated emails sent by MailWasher Server for more information). You can configure the email addresses used when sending these messages, and the SMTP server to send the message through.

The Daemon email address field is used as the From address of these messages. No mail is sent to this address automatically, so it does not need to be set up with your mail server. However, if the recipients reply to any of the system messages the reply would be sent to this address, so you may prefer to use an address that is delivered to someone who can help users with any problems or questions they have.

The Daemon return-path address receives bounces sent by your mail server if the recipient address does not exist. The return-path address should be set to a user who views and manages bounces, for example new account emails. This address can be left blank if you do not want to receive bounces from MailWasher Server.
