How to add an account

The purpose of this task is to add a user account to MailWasher Server.

Steps

Complete the following steps to add a user account.

From the MailWasher Server home page menu, select Accounts. The User and Administrator Accounts page displays.

Select Add new account. The User and Administrator Accounts – Create Account page displays.

Complete the following fields:

Full name - enter the full name of the account owner.
DDI - enter the contact phone number of the account owner.
Primary Email address - enter the email address of the account owner.
Extra Email addresses - if required, enter any additional email addresses for the account.

note When a message is quarantined, MailWasher Server first searches for an account with that recipient address as primary email address. If no such account is found, MailWasher Server then checks extra email adresses for each account. This allows you to list other addresses that you also receive mail to without needing to use separate MailWasher Server accounts for each address.

note You can use simple wildcards in certain places in these addresses. See Using wildcards in email address lists.

Username - enter a user name for the account.

note Duplicate usernames are not permitted. Usernames are case insensitive, but case preserving.

Password - enter a password for the account.

note Passwords are case sensitive.

Select the Account disabled checkbox if you want the added account to be disabled. Disabled accounts cannot be used to login to MailWasher Server, but mail will still be quarantined for them and, if selected in the system configuration, quarantined messages summaries will be sent as required.

In the Permissions area, select the checkbox next to each permission you would like to give this account. Select from:

Alter system configuration and settings - allows the user to modify the MailWasher Server configuration.
Alter user accounts - allows the user to add and change user accounts.
Alter Whitelist and Blacklist email address lists - allows the user to add and remove addresses to and from the email address lists.
View system statistics - allows the user to view the MailWasher Server system statistics.
View quarantined messages - allows the user to view their quarantined messages.

Most users need only the View quarantined messages permission.

Click addbutton to create the user account. The User and Administrator Accounts page displays, showing the new account in the table. This task is now complete.

note Unlike automatically created accounts, the system does not send the user a new account email, so you should give them their username and password yourself.
