How to set content filtering and training

The purpose of this task is to select if you want MailWasher Server to use statistical content analysis to filter out junk messages, and if so, to select to train the filter using junk messages that have been identified by FirstAlert! and also legitimate messages that have been quarantined.

Steps

Complete the following steps to select or change statistical content filtering options.

From the MailWasher Server home page menu, select Statistical content analysis. The System Configuration - Statistical content filtering page displays.

To enable statistical content filtering, select the Use statistical content filtering checkbox.

ex_red_sm It is recommended that you train the filter before using it. To only train the filter, do not select the Use statistical content filtering checkbox and instead continue at Step 4.

Select the required level of sensitivity you want the filter to use when determining if a message is junk or not, in the Sensitivity field. Select from:

Most conservative
Conservative
Moderate
Aggressive
Most aggressive

Select the Train on junk messages identified by FirstAlert! checkbox, if you want to enable training on junk messages identified by the content filtration system, FirstAlert!.

note Users can also submit junk messages to the junk mail submission address to train the filter to quarantine similar messages in the future.

In the Legitimate message training area, select the required legitimate message training option/s. Select to:

Train on messages rescued by users even if FirstAlert! indicates they are junk
Train on messages downloaded (but not rescued) by users
Train on messages from senders on the Whitelist address list

note Users can rescue quarantined messages to train the filter not to train similar messages in the future.
