How to configure outgoing email settings

Top  Previous  Next

The purpose of this task is to set up the email addresses and specify SMTP settings used by MailWasher Server.

The From address (daemon email address) is used for email sent by MailWasher Server, for example quarantined message summaries. The daemon return-path address receives bounces from emails sent by MailWasher Server, unless it is blank, in which case your mail server should silently drop the message.

See Outgoing email settings overview for more information on the effect of these options.

Steps

Complete the following steps to change the settings for emails sent by MailWasher Server.

Step

Action

1

From the MailWasher Server home page menu, select Outgoing email settings. The System Configuration – Outgoing email settings page displays.

2

Enter the required daemon email address in the Daemon email address field and the required return path address in the Daemon return-path address field.

3

Enter the SMTP server hostname and SMTP server port.

note Bounce messages are always sent directly by the mail server that is receiving the incoming message, and are not affected by these options.

4

Click updatebutton to save the daemon email address settings. The System Configuration page displays. This task is now complete.
