A couple of weeks ago I posted about the SiteHound updates failing and the issue being resolved.
Part of the problem was that the machine running the SiteHound updates couldn't keep up.
Part of the solution was to throw more machines at it, until they could keep up.
Sure, it's not flashy, but it worked.
We've just completed the second part which is a new update mechanism that places less strain on the servers. For anyone willing to give this new update mechanism a test they can do so. We'd like to hear from anyone who tries this, and if you have any problems at all...or not. You can email us by clicking here
Assuming there are no problems, we'll include this new update mechanism in the version of SiteHound currently available on the website.
If you locate and rename the file "SiteHound_Update.exe" to something like "old_SiteHound_Update.exe"
This file is located in your "C:\Program Files\FireTrust\SiteHound" folder.
Then download and unzip this file into the same folder mentioned above. It will place in a new "SiteHound_Update.exe"
SiteHound Update 1.2.3.0
Edited : Version 1.2.2.0 removed and version 1.2.3.0 Added
If you do have problems with the new updater, please let us know. You can also at any time choose to restore the old one, by simply renaming it back to it's original name.
Thanks
Chris
Installed new Sitehound. Working fine. Only bug was I had give permission to run the new exe.
